About Us

A man’s reach should exceed his grasp . . .” Robert Browning
The Accident Expert™ is a forensic science and engineering firm serving both Plaintiff and Defense Attorneys for nearly 5 decades. While our corporate office is in Las Vegas, Nevada, we have worked with Attorneys across the United States as well as Great Britain. Our firm has no geographical limitations.

Our founder, Dr. Gary A. Presswood, ScD, PE, was first introduced to forensic engineering in the late 1960s by an engineering college professor who noted his student had a natural interest in solving challenging problems based on litigated cases, where his mentor provided essential tutelage promoting Presswood’s future specialization. The professor, who also served as a forensic engineer, often explained various engineering principles by utilizing real-world examples of his forensic cases. This proved to generate our founder’s ultimate desire to form the Accident Expert™ many years later.

After serving as an engineering consultant for the Depts. of Army, Navy, and Air Force, and as an engineering consultant for NASA in Florida, Dr. Presswood served as the City Engineer and Deputy Director of Public Works for the City of Las Vegas, Nevada when he ultimately formed The Accident Expert™ in 1992.
Forensic science and engineering requires the application of both scientific and engineering principles in order to assist the trier of fact in evaluating various types of litigation cases. Forensic, essentially means “for the court” where it has been our privilege to serve in this capacity for nearly 5 decades.

Testimonials

“Recently, I had need of technical information regarding those low profile concrete objects found in commercial handicapped parking areas, referred to as “wheel stops” / “car stops” / “tire stops.” At first glance, a person may wonder: “what technical information can possibly be associated with a plain stationary concrete object with no moving parts?” Well, as it turns out, Dr. Presswood furnished me with title, section, and paragraph of the ADA, ANSI and ASTM regulations and standards where “wheel stops” are referenced and the characteristics of what constitutes a “wheel stop.” Dr. Presswood dispelled any concerns I had about “wheel stops” when he unequivocally opined that “wheel stops” should never be used, period. By education, work history, and experience, I consider Dr. Presswood’s opinions on technical issues within his areas of expertise unimpeachable. Thank you, Dr. Presswood, for the pleasant experience I had working with you.”

“I’ve known Gary Presswood for over 40 years. His experience as a forensic engineer is unparalleled. During my career as a political press secretary, I worked for some of the best Attorneys in the United States, including the late Charles T. Manatt, former Chairman of the Democratic National Committee and cofounder of the internationally known law firm, Manatt Phelps, headquartered in California and Washington. There is no doubt in my mind that a company at that level would find Dr. Presswood’s expertise invaluable.”
