   More than 1 out of 12 American workers report job related injuries. Our experience has been that major defects or unsafe acts or conditions are often to blame. Don’t be another statistic.

   As with any accident, detail the event as much as possible. Photograph any important elements. Record any equipment model and serial numbers before the device is altered or relocated to another site and is no longer available. Witnesses can also be an essential part of any settlement. Get names and phone numbers as soon as possible. Save all correspondences.

   Be able to answer the following questions, “Did my company have adequate written training and safety procedures? Was I adequately trained? Were my actions reasonable?” Retrieve copies of all safety and training documents. Many companies have inadequate written safety procedures while some have none at all! Collect and preserve copies of all training and safety manuals.
